CEIB was setup in the year 1985. It is the nodal agency for economic intelligence mandated to ensure effective interaction and coordination among all the concerned agencies in the area of economic offences. It also functions as the clearing house of all economic intelligence and provides a platform for such exchange between various agencies within the Department of Revenue and other intelligence and enforcement agencies including IB, RAW, CBI etc.

CEIB is part of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. CEIB has hired the services of Software Developer and System Integrator for the development of new age application and data centre requirements. With the help of NISG, CEIB intends to set up PMU (Program management unit) which will act as an advisor to CEIB on various aspects of technology, integration, implementation, sustenance and maintenance of IT projects including application development, setting up of datacentre, maintenance of legacy application, security and maintenance of legacy application. The team members of PMU shall have deep knowledge and experience on the above aspects mentioned and should carry a pleasant, positive and presentable personality
